Description:
Use caution when taking this herb internally. Excessive internal use has been associated with conditions such as: diarrhea, hepatitis, kidney dysfunction, electrolyte imbalance and reduced CNS activity. However, when taken externally can be very beneficial for conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. You can buy the juice over the counter at most health food shops, but if you have the plant at home, you can cut off leaves (at the base of the stem) and use the juice straight onto burns and skin conditions.
This herb is widely used in the traditional herbal medicine of China, Japan and India.
Cultivation:
This herb grows well in dry, hot areas. Cannot tolerate frost or snow.
In colder climates can be grown indoors in pots. Aloe Vera needs well drained sandy soil. When grown indoors does better in terracotta pots, do not over water!
